Introduction of The Middle School

High School Students
Distinctive Teaching Feature:
Cambridge English ESOL Examinations of General English (5 levels). In the recent four years, our students attended the examinations of three levels; the rate of passing the junior grade is 85%. The students who passed the first grade exams (KET) occupied 80%, and 75% the candidates get the second grade certificates (PET). What’s more important, in 2003 The Middle School Department is authoirized by Guang dong Provincial Test Centre as “Cambridge English ESOL Examination General English Five Grade Certificates Testing Site” (among two in total with Jinan University as the other).
Mainstays of the school:
1. Teacher group-Flocking the elites from all over China together
Huamei adopts the means of nationwide staff recruitment, and then selects the elites in educational circles to work in Huamei. Currently, there are 102 teachers in Middle School Department. Among them, 4 are Master’s Degree holders, and all the teachers in Senior Middle School and 90% teachers of Junior Middle School have obtained Bachelor’s Degree. Meanwhile, the proportion of the teachers who have achieved mid-level professional title is 61%, 28% teachers have achieved senior professional title. Most of them are middle-aged or young teachers, vigorous and creative. The ratio of the teachers and the students is 1: 8.
2. “Hardware” construction - Modern facilities
Huamei has practiced information administration and teaching. The internet and intranet of the school are very resourceful, the information channels are unblocked, and all necessary materials are in good place. All of the classrooms and functional rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art multi-media systems, every two teachers share a computer, and every 4.5 students have access to one computer. The Information Center is the department responsible for providing software platforms for teaching and exploring teaching resources.
Advanced experiment equipment. Physical, chemical, biological labs are equipped in accordance with the standard of the First Grade School in Guangdong Province.
We also built history, geography, art and music functional classroom, calligraphy room, labor and technology room, chess room, radio-making room, “Setting sail” broadcast station, and “Setting sail” literature club. All of these functional rooms provide the students with a modern platform to cultivate their talents.
Broad stage for practice. Geography garden, ecology garden, some bases for ethics education and labor education attached to other units outside school open various windows for the students to get to know the society and the outside world.
3. Curricula—Serving to develop the students’ potentials and cultivate individuality.
Subject curricula are designed according to the Ministry of Education. The purpose is to help the students firmly build up the foundation of knowledge and skills.
School-based curricula. With assuring the quality of national and local curricula, based on the understanding of the difference in their development and needs, we make full use the school’s education and research resources, to explore and design specific courses for our students, such as foreign teacher English course, Cambridge English course, school-based English contest, lectures given by successful persons, guidance classes given by the celebrity in the field of education, international exchange class and IT integration classes.
Comprehensive and practical activity curricula. By carrying out the theory of talent training- “help the students develop themselves autonomously, and own the good basis for serving the society initiatively”, more than 60 interest activity groups, new courses have started, such as labor and technology classes in the scale of school, community service and social practice, and research study in the Senior Middle School, etc .
4. Class organizational system—Small-sized classes and stratification teaching
We adopt small-sized classes and stratification teaching methods, and try to truly realize offering an individualized quality education for every student. There are around 30 students in each class, implementing the system of homeroom teacher responsibility. Distinctive feature classes are set up in each grade. From Junior Grade One, we group the same level students to take mathematics and English class in one class, and thus our teaching can maximize the satisfaction of individual needs.
