The School
Guangzhou Huamei International School was founded in 1993 by a group of returned overseas Chinese scholars from Canada, who advocate the educational tenet of “Integrating eastern and western educational philosophies, nurturing Chinese modern elites”. Accredited by the Chinese governmental education departments, our school now ranks one of the best private boarding schools in Guangdong Province.
We provide professional and tailor-made programs ranging from kindergarten to Grade12, with three divisions- the Kindergarten, the Primary School (Grade 1 through 6), and the Middle School (Grade 7 through 12). The 2600 students, aged between 3 to 18 years old, represent all parts of China and several foreign countries. Upon completion of their studies, students can move smoothly to both prestigious domestic and foreign universities to pursue academic degrees.
Located in the mountainous suburb of Guangzhou city, covering 18 hectares of beautiful campus, Huamei offers an ideal place for students to begin experiencing and exploring all the great educational opportunities that China can offer. For the foreign students, we assure them a remarkable and productive experience to learn the Chinese language and culture, as well as an English-immersing environment.
Faculty
Within the heart of every great school is a faculty that loves students, that celebrates learning, and that embraces the school they serve.
There are over 260 professional teachers at Huamei School. They have been attracted to the school because of its commitment to excellence, because it offers them the opportunity to work with students from all over China and other countries, and because it facilitates their professional development. Hence, Huamei has a low turnover rate of faculty members. Besides, there are 250 life-caring teachers and assistants, who devote their time and love to the daily life of each child.
Our teachers are experienced professionals, most of whom with bachelor’s or master’s degree obtained in China or abroad. Many have won nation-wide teaching awards, published articles in magazines and educational journals, compiled textbooks, opened exhibitions of art. They are fully engaged in their disciplines.
Our foreign teachers of English are friendly, open-minded, easy-going, healthy and energetic native English teachers from America, Canada, Britain and Australia, with at least bachelor’s degree and TESL certificates. They are skillful in motivating and engaging their students by encouraging and facilitating them to think, to question, to discuss, and to debate, which contribute to the students’ improvement in thinking skills, team-work as well as English proficiency.
Campus Life
All of our students, who come from families of high socio-economic status and live a wealthy life at home, are required to live in the school apartment, not only because of the rule and feature of boarding schools, but also due to the fact that our collective living conditions are beneficial to the students' growth and independence. In all respects of transportation, safety, meals, health care, physical exercise, lesson review or personal hygiene, our school offers students the most meticulous care.
Huamei School provides the students with 6 sets of school uniforms each year for spring, summer, fall and winter use. Six meals each day, including breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and night snack, are all prescribed by professional nutritionists and cooked elaborately by seasoned cooks in line with the nourishing program. Staple food-grain, flour and rice, and vegetable and meat dishes complement each other very well. A birthday party every month is an occasion for entertainment with a big birthday cake served.
Our students’ apartments are well-equipped with air-conditioners, shower-rooms, laundries and medical facilities. School clinic doctors and nurses are on duty round the clock.
Every weekend there are many shuttle buses taking the children to or from school, escorted jointly by the life-caring teachers and school guards, with destination covering all spots of Guangzhou city and some other Pearl River Delta regions.
Within an immense campus covering 18 hectares, there are two swimming-pools, one indoor sports center, a standard stadium covered with plastic-grounded track lines, eight outdoor basketball playgrounds and four volleyball playgrounds, three tennis courts, an indoor table tennis training center, a piano center with 20 pianos, a dining center with three spacious cafeterias, a mini golf court, a Miniature English Kingdom, a roller-skating ground, an interesting ecological garden, covering 1.8 hectare-the home for various species of plant, vegetable and animals. All these facilities help our children to soundly develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, and morally.
