February 23^rd saw the parents and students of grades 1-3 open the gates of Huamei and host the annual Chinese Lantern Festival. Our students’ parents worked together to put on an exciting event to keep the wonder of childhood alive at Huamei.

The Lantern Festival is centred around reconciliation, forgiveness, and peace and the welcoming of Spring. The colder air has now paved way to warmer temperatures and during these coming weeks we can enjoy the milder weather that a Guangzhou Spring will offer. Before we know it, the heat of Summer will once again fall upon us.

Last Friday’s event certainly retained the peace and tranquillity within our grounds. Students were left content and fulfilled with the array of entertainment, food, and drinks that were on offer. Dragons danced amongst the crowds, whilst students feasted on popcorn and hot food. Students performed and gave speeches to the cheers of their peers and parents. Not only could you find food and drink but also a variety of games were on offer to bring out some healthy competition.

When asked about any highlights, all our students kept saying how amazed they were by the performers that took the time out of their day to entertain our students, their families, and our staff. Luckily for all of us, the weather remained dry, and that meant out stage was constantly filled with a host of different performers. Henry a class member of class 4:2 said “There were so many things to choose from, things like popcorn and bread, different drinks. Even games. I liked the game where I had to throw a hoop onto the correct pole. It was fun.”

After the welcoming of Spring, let’s look towards another great semester full of achievements, dreams, and fun.

Once again, Spring is here!
