The purpose of learning English is to communicate in English. So improving students' oral English ability is very important. Here I want to talk about something I’ve done.

Firstly, teach daily English at the beginning three minutes every day. Let students talk about themselves or they want to do with others. eg. May I come in? May I go to the toilet? May I use your...? Where do you live? How do you come to school? What's your telephone number...

When they can answer the questions fluently, we get rid of the questions, get them to introduce themselves confidently.

Secondly, get the students to learn to use, use to learn, and apply what they have learned. Give them the most opportunities to speak English.

Thirdly, often say the sentences that they learned before, at least six sentences on each topic according to the sentence structure. e.g. In Chapter 1-2, They learned Hello, my name is... I am... years old. This is my family. This is my…. To Chapter5, Pupils can introduce themselves within one minute. e.g. Hello, I am.... I am ... years old. There are... people in my family. They are my father, my mother…. I study at Huamei School. I am in Class... Grade 1. My English teacher is Shirley. My Chinese teacher is.... My class teacher is.... My best friend is.... I have a skipping rope. I can skip. I have a bike. I can ride a bike…

Fourthly, Read more English picture books. First reading English picture books can deepen the memory of words. It also can cultivate their sense of English language. So I always get them have the competitions of reading English picture books.
