This week at Huamei has been a busy week of preparation for the new school year. After the new teacher’s orientation offered by the school head office, each school division organized well-designed academic training sessions regarding education goals, curriculum framework, semester plans, alongside team-building activities, with the aim of helping new international teachers to familiarize themselves with the school philosophy and developing objectives so that the teachers could meet and exceed the rising expectations of Huamei school and nurture the collaboration among local teachers and international teachers. Ms. Serene Chen, the School Director of English and International Programs, walked around and joined part of each school division’s training events.

Now, let’s have a quick look at what happened in each school division concerning the training sessions, although for sure they cannot cover all the deliberate passing down and productive exchanges from all K12 orientations

Our English Department head teacher from Huamei-Bond International College, Mr. Carmelo Bono,  was explaining a structured and detailed long range plan of English course to the new teachers on how to plan and implement their own courses. The Math and Science Department were going over the checklist of the whole semester to make sure everybody aim at the same goal and put efforts together on regular basis. Mr. Jay Chen, the Principal was showcasing and advocating the teachers should be supported physically, emotionally and socially so that they could give students all what they can do naturally.

In the junior high GIC program, the on-going teaching and research meetings among Chinese teachers and international teachers for 3 days turned out to be quite productive and supportive.

In the primary school, all the international teachers were involved to discuss the semester plan to prepare properly for the upcoming new school year. The Academic Head, Ms. Sida Bai had one-on-one Q & A meetings with all teachers as the ending part to address and clarify each individual’s concerns and questions.

In the kindergarten, the admin scheduled a two-day professional and informative training session, which included Ms. Mandy Huang, the IB-PYP Coordinator’s introduction to the PYP curriculum, Mr. Lam Felix Si-Heng, the Team Leader’s introduction to the English program, semester plan, resources and weekly lesson plans, etc. The demonstration and presentation from Felix was engaging the two new teachers in all training activities and great outcomes were achieved.

Of course, the team-building activities, during and following the training added more flavor and warmth. The primary school’s dinner party, the middle school’s City Walk, and the international high school’s “Teacher Care” workshop helped to bond and inspire all the teachers.

Here comes the new school year and our teachers are ready to embark another new journey of their education career here at Huamei. We are confident that our teams will work together closely to achieve the best possible results!
