Narrator： Once upon a time there was a wise king.

King:     Nothing good can come to a nation whose people only complain and expect others to solve their problems. (Pause, walks around, thinks) Oh! I get an idea!

Narrator: Early one morning, the king disguised himself and went to a local village. He placed a large stone in the middle of the main street and hid gold coins under the stone. Then he hid behind a huge maple tree and watched.

Milkman: (On stage, tripped over a stone, spilled milk) Oh, Why is there a big stone here? Today is really unlucky! Look at this poor milk scattered all over the place, which fool put the stone here?

Woman 1: What a sunny day!

Woman 2: Yes.

Woman 1: Ah, my water, and my legs! So painful!

Woman 2: Look out! God, who put the stone here? Are you all right?

Woman 1: I'm really unlucky. I've got hurt. Look, I'm bleeding and the water's spilled. Let's go, get out of this unfortunate place. (Tearful, step down)

King:    Oh, neither she nor her friend thought about moving the stone out of the road.

Villager: (Passing by) Who put this stone here? How despicable! (Shake your head and walk away)

King:    Is there no one in this village who feels any responsibility to keep their neighbors harmed?

Girl: (Joyful, humming) My father and I worked in the fields for another day, how fulfilling it was. Everything can make me happy. Ah, there is a stone here. This stone is a danger to anyone who comes down the street after dark. I’ll move it out of the way. (Speaking to herself)

Narrator: The girl pushed the stone with all her might. After a great deal of effort, she finally succeeded in moving it to the side of the street. Then she saw the gold coins, she was so surprised.

Girl:     (King on stage) Oh, how many gold coins? Oh, sir, does this gold belong to you? If not, we surely must find the owner, for he will certainly miss it. (Urgent)

King:     My dear, the gold is mine. I put it in the road and moved the stone over it. Now the gold is yours because you are the only person who has learned the lesson I wanted to teach my people.
