“Recycle Creative”
In order to celebrate the recent Fall Festival, ISD held an environmental crafting competition where teachers and students used common household items to imagine, create, and experience the fun of innovative design.
After successfully crafting their creations, both teachers and students donned their work to parade them in an online activity. They made outfits from discarded cardboard boxes, hoods out of paper bags, and even clothes assembled from discarded quilts. Finally, teachers and parents voted to select which of their stylish creations held the title of having the most innovative design.

"There is no garbage in the world. The best use is resources." A student said after completing their handicraft.

The activity greatly stimulated the students' interest in hands-on creation, helped to improve their practical ability and creativity, and also provided a stage on which to exhibit their designs. Not only this, but it also effectively cultivated the students' consciousness of saving resources and also served to create a positive atmosphere of green environmental protection, a life-skill that will undoubtedly play dividends in their future lives.
“guess the word by picture”
Characters are a unique yet fundamental aspect of the Chinese language while also being an important symbol of modern day life. They refer to the use of figures as words that are similar in shape to what they represent. These hieroglyphics are the crystallization of wisdom, a form of inheritance and historical significance.
To further stimulate foreign students' love of language and to enhance their sense of Chinese culture, a game of "guessing Chinese characters" was also held during the Fall Festival.
After guessing the characters, the students put their learnings into practice. In the process of painting, the students were tasked with using their imagination and cooperation to design their own beautiful "Chinese scenery" either as an individual or by working together in small groups. The results, as shown below, perfectly illustrate their creativity while also their understanding of core learning.

It was explained to the students that after Cang Jie created Chinese characters, the hard-working population continued to enrich and develop them through labour. These characters have since become the carrier of Chinese civilization and a unique artistic treasure in the treasure house of world civilization. Through the activity of "Guessing Chinese Characters", international students now possess a better understanding of the historical culture and development process of Chinese characters. At the same time, they also have a great sense of admiration for the charm associated with the language.
Indeed, what an unforgettable Fall Festival it was! Dear ISD students, on behalf of the teaching staff, we would like to offer our heartfelt gratitude for your imagination and creativity which made the Fall Festival so special and fun!
Finally, please guess the Chinese characters drawn by ISD teachers and students~~
