English is widely used in the world. Many people speak it as a second language. We can find lots of information in English when we surf the Net. If we understand English, we can know more about the world and we can get more knowledge. At international conferences, English is also used as the official language. Without good English, we cannot express our ideas well or introduce China to the outside world.

How to learn English well? Let me tell you what I do. I listen to the teachers attentively and speak English actively in class. After class I like listening to recordings, reading books and watching English movies.  I’m not afraid to make mistakes or being laughed at. And finally, I can use the basic knowledge to express in writing.

When I was in Grade 3, I began to read a book named Harry potter. The book is very thick and there are many new words for me. While I started reading, I could only read one chapter a day. Then I worked hard on it and learned ten new words from it every day. Now I can probably read ten pages per hour. Whenever I read a newspaper, a magazine or other books, they help me to understand more about the context.

Our teachers always tell us to prepare our lessons well before every class, review what we've learned in time, read more and read different materials, write as often as possible and talk more either in class or out of class. I remember those and often turn to my teachers for advice and help. I find out that learning English is such an interesting thing.
