PBL presentation of STREAMS project in Huamei

PBL exploration of immersive experience

This is the PBL exhibition of Huamei primaryschool. The works and achievements we have worked hard for the whole semesterare displayed here!    

We explore the world along the context ofGuangfu culture in Huamei.

With the clue of "the regionalcharacteristics of Guangfu cultural festival tradition ", studentsexplored the Mid- Autumn Festival works of art in Guangfu traditionalfestivals.

The students made a bilingual invitationletter and questionnaire for the Mid- Autumn Festival and invited internationalteachers to participate in the moon cake party. They could also introduce theMid-Autumn Festival in English and promote Chinese traditional culture andfestivals all over the world.

In the theme exploration class of foreignteachers, students drew models and pictures of the moon to explore the changesof the moon phase. Students also made lanterns for the Mid-Autumn Festival.There are lantern riddles on the hand-made lanterns. They introduced thecustoms, legends and delicious food of the Mid- Autumn Festival in the form ofmind map.

English version of Cantonese operaDo you like it

In order to sing Cantonese Opera well, studentswent to the Cantonese Opera Museum to learn about Cantonese opera. Whileconsulting materials and reading books, students learned the Cantonese Opera"six pillars" and made character cards to display and report ingroups. In addition, students also explored the costumes, musical instruments,singing and famous actors of Cantonese opera. They also learned about therepresentative operas of Cantonese opera.

Students put on costumes and sang Cantoneseopera to experience the charm of Cantonese opera. They designed English clothhandbags with Cantonese Opera elements to introduce Cantonese Opera in English.The students also invited foreign teachers to learn to sing Cantonese Opera inEnglish.

Huamei students introduced the classics andorigins of Cantonese opera, and became a small promoter of Guangfu culture!

What color can represent your characterWhat's your class badge like?

Through the principles of color psychology,students learned the representative color of their own character . They alsorealized their advantages and areas that they need to be improved. The studentsapplied their skills and jointly designed a unique class badge to show thecommon pursuit and sense of belonging of the class. 

In addition to designing the class badge,Huamei small designers cooperated to make a mini Huamei campus with light clay.

After giving full play to their strengthsand feeling the strength of their own and their team, the relationship amongstudents have been better and better. Taking advantage of this, the teacher ledthe children to learn the concept of understanding others, caring for others,helping others and being grateful to others. Let children learn to understandothers and care for others in the way they can, which will have a profoundimpact on their lives.

Bilingual menu

China is a big country which has a lot ofdelicious food since ancient times, and ancient poetries also described a lotof food.

 

Students explored around the eight majorChinese cuisines. They started with their favorite dishes, wrote down thecooking methods of delicacies in Chinese and English, and compiled a Huamei exclusiverecipe.

 

Huamei kids showed their homemade recipesand introduced the cooking methods. In addition to writing the productionmethod into the recipe and translating it into English, Huamei students alsowent to the kitchen to make delicious dishes according to the recipe to ensurethat the recipe can help people make delicious dishes!

Do you really know yourself?

Around the theme of "who are we",students carried out exploration activities such as "Selfintroduction", "I am a primary school student", "To thefuture me".

By making self portraits with colored clay,Huamei students had a clearer and deeper understanding of themselves ! Inaddition, children also explored the components of the human body and learnt toexpress body parts in English.

After understanding the human body andcreating self portraits, the students also wrote a letter to their future self,which was full of children's expectations for their future.

The next PBL exhibition will be morewonderful. Please look forward to it.
