This New Year’sseason I’m thankful for a lot of different things: for the time I was able tospend in the U.S. keeping my family safe and healthy; for the loving andsupportive community at Huamei School; for being back at school and welcomedwith open arms. Most of all, I’m thankful to be home.  I’ve worked in the Huamei GIC program forover ten years and never imagined what it would feel like to be separated fromall the students, teachers, and administrators.  It was a tough journey back, but the feeling of excitement from everyoneon my first day back just washed it all away.

Students inHuamei GIC’s Primary School showed their honor this month by expressingthankfulness.  Honor means showingrespect and understanding for people that have accomplished great things.  Students expressed their thankfulness forChina, Huamei School, families, teachers, and friends by singing songs, makingspeeches, and performing skits.

GIC assembliesare one of the things I missed most about being on campus.  It’s a powerful sight, all our GIC classes inone room talking about the same cause.  It makes me even more proud and thankful to be the director of a programwith such dedicated students and teachers.  What are you thankful of this holiday season?
