On Friday, September 11, 2020, about 10:15a.m. Mr. Dave Peng, the biology teacher of the HAIC program and the coordinatorof the PBL (Project- Based-Learning), introduced and promoted to students fromS1C1, S1C2 and S2C1 in room 615.

PBLfocuses more on self-independent exploration. In the meeting, Dave introducedthe detailed procedure of PBL to the students, including the key points of selectingquestions and the learning tasks of PBL in this semester. Unlike the previousPBL, this year, we are using a new grade rubric and interdisciplinary approachto topic selection. Students' exploratory and thinking skills will bequalitatively enhanced, stimulating their interest in learning and their desirefor knowledge. The students listened attentively and took notes carefully.

After the students have chosen theirinstructors, Mr Dave Peng gave a brief introduction on PBL to the instructors,explaining to them what PBL is, what an instructor should do. The teachers whoattended the meeting expressed their approval of it. Compared with the oldlearning mode, PBL emphasizes that students are the main body of learning, andteachers are the mentors. Therefore, the PBL will stimulate their curiosity andstrengthen their problem-solving skills.
