What is end of term fun? A party, a movie. No, not at all, a science experiment!
With Project Based Learning {PBL},experiential opportunities don’t end with Review Week. Our ISD Elementary Science class donned ourlab coats and goggles to make geodes and rock candy.
What could be better than that? Summertime Science! The hands-on project possibilities are great,in the classroom or the kitchen, always with an adult. We often hear about STEM {Science TechnologyEngineering and Math} projects and too little about STEAM. The Art part is an exciting form of thoseother subjects. There are many ways totest hypothesis, discuss outcomes, or simply “see what happens” with everydayhousehold items.
The important thing to note first is thehypothesis, or what one thinks will happen as a result of the experiment beingdone. This process also benefitslanguage and critical thinking skills. The conditions, tools/equipment, and any other ingredients are importantto note as well in order to recreate or adjust said experiment in the futures.
If you don’t know where to start, checkthis website, or search for others like it.
