Huamei International school: An introspective journey
Shared :

As Huamei International School surpasses animportant milestone by concluding its 26th year then perhaps the most fittingdescription suited towards accomplishing such a remarkable feat is for it beconsidered as both ‘young’ and ‘energetic’ especially in regards to fulfillingits long-standing mission of “Integrating eastern and western educational ethosto cultivate tomorrow’s global leaders”. Building on from this underlyingphilosophy, Huamei International School has crucially made great leaps towardsfulfilling further objectives such as moving towards a new chapter consisting of"a high-quality reputable school rooted in and with a Chinesefoundation", resulting in the noteworthy dream of becoming the leadingprivate primary and secondary school in South China being increasingly morerealistic and achievable than ever before.

Leading off such remarkable achievements itgoes without saying that the topic of education plays a fundamental role inboth creating and providing for knowledge pertaining to the world around us sothat we can look to not only understand but also to develop it into somethingbetter. Education develops in us not only a perspective of looking at life butalso to help us build and challenge our innate opinions of which directlytranslates into our core view of life that would otherwise be unattainable. Ateach stage of our lives, we have goals we want to achieve and targets we wantto hit so the sense of pride in knowing one has worked tirelessly to get where theywant to be is by far the most rewarding and satisfying sensation that anyonecan experience. This of course requires one vital component - education. It iseducation which provides us with the tools and mental characteristics requiredto excel in life. Whether one wishes to be a pilot or a scientist when theygrow up, or even if they aim to open their own business when they hitadulthood, they need to use all their educational years as efficiently and aseffectively as possible so as to make such dreams and ambitions become areality.

When speaking about the success of HuameiInternational school it is perhaps easier to review how such ideologytranslates into the day-to-day schedule of the people who have happily come tolabel it as ‘home’. If one were to enter any classroom then it would becomeimmediately apparent that efforts to translate this ideology across can befound in a multitude of different ways of which there is the noticeablehighlight of a single focus to bring forward the topic of education into everydayactivities. Everyday life is, after all, full of opportunities to helpsupplement learning of which could involve simple addition or multiplicationwhen you’re in the supermarket or even extending to learning new vocabularyfrom the menu in a restaurant. They may only be small activities, but they serveas the foundation of what will one day become an academic cornerstone. Atherefore natural extension of this line of thinking can directly be associatedwith the study of a foreign language.

The advantages of learning foreignlanguages are mushrooming as the world becomes increasingly globalized andbilingualism is now perhaps the most useful real world skill to ever exist.Foreign language study is all about learning how to truly communicate andconnect with others—an incredibly important life skill that can only becultivated by interacting with people. Mastering such a skill enables one to beable to understand not only what someone is saying, but rather to recall theproper vocabulary and grammar, put that vocabulary and grammar into the propercontext, and reply back—all on the spot and in a timely manner. Withglobalization in full swing, there’s a good chance many students will soon be workingalongside people with a different first language. Maybe it’s a development teamin India, or a manufacturing plant in China, or perhaps even an alternativeenergy supplier in Germany. Being able to communicate in other languages makesany individual exponentially more valuable to an employer and having thatcompetitive edge on the future resume is without a doubt a key indicator forfuture success.

Students and personnel associated withHuamei International School can boldly and proudly boast of the schools motto‘to integrate Eastern and Western educational philosophies, to cultivatetomorrow’s global leaders’ whilst also having the comfort of studying in aneducational haven home to more than 3300 students, 660 teaching andadministrative staffs in which over 50 international teachers, and nearly 20teachers who have received their diploma overseas. The existence of extensivecooperation with quality educational institutes all over the world, based onsigned agreement with them from the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, HongKong,Spain, Germany, and Indonesia, only serves to reinforce this image of energeticinstitute determined to make its mark. It is therefore only appropriate that aglimpse inside a typical classroom on any given day serves to illustrate theliving embodiment of the school motto of “Practicing Integrity, ExercisingPhilanthropy, Pursing Virtue and Seeking Truth” whereupon students gleefully adhereto the learning spirit of "lofty aspiration establishment,self-cultivation, correction, enlightenment" in order to fulfil not onlytheir “Huamei Dream” but also that of “the Dream of China”.
