In order to promote Huamei’s curriculum reform and international education, and enhance the English teaching and learning quality and cultivate more and more high standard well qualified bilingual students and teachers, Guangzhou Huamei InternationalSchool cooperated with The Open University of Guangdong and hoped to establishthe Huamei Foreign Language College, The Open University of Guangdong. Theopening ceremony of its foundation will be held on May 20, 2016.

In mid-January of 2016,Professor Qiu Yaode was appointed as the Dean of the Huamei Foreign LanguageCollege and administration team from both organizations was formed andannounced. 

On March 10th, 2016, Ms Li Jiang, Vice Principal of Guangdong OpenUniversity, led delegations to visit Huamei School and has the first roundmeeting with the Huamei team regarding the policy and academic positioning.Professor Ji Mingming, the National Education Advisory Committee Memberand  the former President of Beijing Academy of Educational Science presented the meeting and provided a keynote speech on the Open University Foundation and Development within China, whichshed lights on the college’s future. During the discussion, Mr Zhang Keqiang, the President of Huamei Investment Group, also expressed his support to theestablishment of the College. On May 4^th, 2016,  Professor Qiu Yaodeand Mr Chen Feng led delegations to have another discussion with Mr Lan Tian,the Director of Culture & Diffusion Department within The Open Universityof Guangdong on the detailed establishment of the College, including its coursedesign and how to establish the teaching resources and online course platform.This meeting has laid a solid foundation for the curriculum construction.
