I keep remembering one of J.K. Rowling’s immortallines “It is our choices….that show what we truly are, far more than ourabilities.” Though there are millions of choices made by people every singleday, I, as a new English teacher at Guangzhou Huamei International School,witness numerous decision makings by the honorable principals, respectableteachers, beloved students and all diligent staffs working here.

Itis thirty five to eight in the morning. As usual, the campus is hauntinglybeautiful. The birds are chirping, the gay flowers are waving, even the greatearth is making herself hospitable with the help of the verdant grass. Listen,the campus is full of the sound of reading. In the classrooms, on thecorridors, beside the gardens or even on the playground, the students areholding books to immense in the ocean of knowledge. To me, they are makingtheir own choices to show what they truly are. They are the perfect illustrationof Huamei’s motto “curiosity”.

Itis nine in the morning. Some teachers are working indefatigably andenthusiastically in the offices. They all are working without a thought ofself. In the classrooms, the teachers are meticulous in their teaching work.They are concentrate on writing down the key points on the board withoutnoticing the fact that their shirts are soaked with sweat. The teachers chooseto be professional. They show a genuine interest in work ,which trulyillustrates “sincereness” in Huamei’s motto.

Itis a quarter to five in the afternoon. The students are patient and careful todraw their pictures at ASA class. They are exerting their imaginations with thebrushes , felt tips and colored pencils to trace out their own wonderlands. Someof their paintings capture the essence of Guangzhou city. Some of theirpaintings are in the fashion of Picasso. I feast my eyes on their breathtakingpictures. The students choose to pursue the beauty. They are the most devotedspokesman for the motto “ beauty ”.

Countlessexamples of decision makings are happening every day. The members of Huameischool are making their choices to show what they really are and to fulfilltheir dreams here .

Asan English teacher, I also need to make the choice to show who I am. I chose tobe an English teacher here, not only because I love to be a teacher from myheart, but also because I love this school deeply. I am convinced that Huameischool is the platform for me to satisfy my personal value and to fulfill my teachingdream by its outstanding teaching achievements and its advanced teachingphilosophy. “Sincereness”, “fraternity”, “beauty” and curiosity” are theschool’s motto, which is also my personal motto to guide me here. I will bringmy considerable teaching experience to my job and my passionate enthusiasm tomy students. I firmly believe that I will harvest my fruitful life here.
