In January, Huamei students were barricaded in their homes due to the outbreak of COVID-19. In order to ensure students’ continuous learning, all the teachers in Huamei Junior English group spared no efforts to provide students with high-quality online course. Mrs. Long Xuhong stood out from the group.

According to Mrs. Long, the English lessons posted online previously focused mainly ongrammar, which is rich in knowledge while lacking in interest. Nonetheless, forthe students who have been blocked for over a month, a grammar lesson may causethem to distract easily. Suddenly, an idea occurred to Mrs. Long that theonline course could be about the hottest spot nowadays - corona virus. 

Mrs.Long decided to spend three periods on the topic of corona virus, including what to know about the virus as well as how to fight against it. To make surethe efficiency of the three lessons, Mrs. Long exerted herself to search forthe resources and make PowerPoint. Thanks to her efforts, the students’passions were ignited during the lessons. They showed great interest in thetopic and interacted with Mrs. Long actively. The entire process was well-organized. Through Mrs. Long’s lessons, the students not only learnt some English expressions about corona virus but also comprehended the great unity ofthe Chinese nation. Afterwards, some students submitted excellent articles about the corona virus topic.
