As the early section of Guangzhou Huamei International School, the primary school division reflects our dedication to each child and his/her individuality. Children take English lessons as soon as they step into thecampus, bilingual education starts in Grade 1, and we integrate the Longman English curriculum with Chinese English curriculum, aiming to help construct a solid English foundation for our children.

For children, Huamei is a safe, fun place to learn and grow. Here, they develop a sense ofbelonging and sharing. They are nurtured in an environment that is warm,exciting, challenging and respectful. For teachers, it is a place where energies flow into creating meaningful learning opportunities for each student,and into enjoying a high degree of personal satisfaction by working with them. Currently there are over 1000 lovely children from China (including Taiwan, Hong Kongand Macao) and other countries (e.g., Canada, Australia,Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, etc.) enrolled in classesfrom Grade 1 to 6, studying in 48 classes (including one International Class).Throughout the year they are taught and taken care of by 112 classroom teachers and life assistants; 98.6% of the classroom teachers have received college/universityeducation or above. In a whole week they have classes in Chinese, English, Math and Science. They are also enriched with classes of Computer, Music, Art, and Oral English taught by foreign teachers. Reading in the library and Physical Education complete the week’s lessons.

Huamei Primary School begins providing bilingual education fromGrade 1, and it integrates Longman English curriculum with Chinese English curriculum,giving the children an edge in the fundamentals of English. Huamei also creates communicative situations where students are encouraged and facilitated to apply their English knowledge to real life use. In order to help the students reach their potentials, Huamei organizes various clubs and activity groups, and give the children opportunities to present their talents in many occasions, such as the Oral English Competition and the magnificent Annual Christmas Party.

Huamei provides students with the best living conditions. All dormitories are equipped with air-conditioners. Additionally, Huamei also has professional nutritionists preparing weekly menus for the children, and birthday parties are held monthly. However, students physical health is not the only concern; Huamei also has teacher stending to our students’ mental needs.

In the past 22years, our students participated in different kinds of competitions and won numerous awards:

41 students scoredthe highest on the Cambridge English Flyers test.

90% of the students scored the highest on the Cambridge Young Learners English Preparatory Stage test and 70% to 90% students were rated excellent and good on the Starters test.

In the China Adolescents Science & Technology Innovation Contest, 1 student earned the second prize at the provincial level, 1 student was awarded the first prize at the municipal level, and 2 students won the first prize, 3 students won the second prize and two students won the third prize at the district level.

Three representative teams obtained the first, second, and third prizes respectively in Robo Cup Junior of Guangdong area.

The girl’s soccer team won the first and second prizes at the municipal and district level for many times. They won the championship in the campus soccer competition in Tianhe district in November, 2014 and won the eighth prize for the same competition in May, 2015.

The boy’s basketball team also won the first and second prizes for many times.

2 students placed 3rd for tennis in Guangzhou,and 4 students placed 1st, 2 placed 2nd 3 placed 3rd in Tianhe district.

15 students won the first prize, 65 students won the second and 23 students won the third prize in the martial arts competition.

During the Tianhe track meet, 8 students won the championship, 4 students took 3rd      place, and many other students won awards.

In the National Drawing and Calligraphy Competition for primary and secondary  students, 5 students won the first prize, 7students won the second prize and 10 studentswon the third prize.

Yang Yingjie won asilver medal in the National Youth Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition in 2014.

In the Chineseproficiency contest, 6 students got the first prize, 13 students got the second prize and 11 students got thethird prize.

In the Hua Luogeng Golden Cup-a mathematics tournament, 2 students won the first  prize, 8 students won the second prize and 21 students won the third prize.

More than 70 students were admitted to Guangzhou Olympic School, and 4 students were accepted by Guangdong Olympic School.

In the Guangzhou Primary Students English Proficiency Competition, 10 students won the first prize, 10 students won thesecond prize and 21 students won the third prize.

In the provincial and national English contests, 10 students won the first prize, 27 students won the 32 students won the third prize.

In the Tianhe Starry Wisdom Cup –a comprehensive ability competition for sixth grade students held in 2013, 1 student gotthe second prize, 6 students got the third prize. The award rate of participating students is 87.5% which is far more than 60%, the average award rate of Tianhe district.

In short, the Huamei Primary School is a place of real discovery andexploration. It is also a place where success for one is viewed as success for all.
