As the earlysection of Guangzhou Huamei International School, the primaryschool division reflects our dedication to each child and his/her individuality.Children take English lessons as soon as they step into the campus, bilingualeducation starts in Grade 1, and we integrate the LongmanEnglish curriculumwith Chinese English curriculum, aiming to help construct a solid Englishfoundation for our children.

For children,Huamei is a safe, fun place to learn and grow. Here, they develop a sense ofbelonging and sharing. They are nurtured in an environment that is warm,exciting, challenging and respectful. For teachers, it is a place whereenergies flow into creating meaningful learning opportunities for each student,and into enjoying a high degree of personal satisfaction by working withthem. For parents, it is a place where their children are safe and secure, aplace where communication is valued and guaranteed, and where they seethemselves and are viewedby the school as an important and valued partner inthe success of their children’s education.

Currently thereare over 1000 lovely children from China(including Taiwan, Hong Kongand Macao) and other countries (e.g., Canada, Australia,Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, etc.) enrolled in classesfrom Grade 1 to 6, studying in 49 classes(including one International Class). Throughout the year they are taught andtaken care of by 112classroom teachers and life assistants; 98.6% of theclassroom teachers have received college/university education or above. In awhole week they have classes in Chinese, English, Math and Science. They arealso enriched with classes of Computer, Music, Art, and Oral English taught byforeign teachers. Readingin the library and Physical Education complete the week’s lessons.

Huamei Primary School begins providing bilingual education fromGrade 1, and it integrates Longman English curriculum with Chinese Englishcurriculum, giving the children an edge in the fundamentals of English. Huameialso creates communicative situations where students are encouraged andfacilitated to apply their English knowledge to real life use. In order to helpthe students reach their potentials, Huamei organizes various clubs andactivity groups, and give the children opportunities to present their talentsin many occasions, such as the Oral English Competition and the magnificentAnnual Christmas Party.

Huamei providesstudents with the best living conditions. All dormitories are equipped withair-conditioners. Additionally, Huamei also has professional nutritionistspreparing weekly menus for the children, and birthday parties are held monthly.However, students’ physical health is not the only concern; Huamei also hasteachers tending to our students’ mental needs.

In the past 23 years, our students participated in different kindsof competitions and won numerous awards:

47 students scored the highest on the Cambridge English Flyers test.

70% to90% students were rated excellent and good onthe Starters test.

In the China Adolescents Science &Technology Innovation Contest, 1 student earned   thesecond prize at the provincial level, 1 student was awarded the first prize atthe municipal level, and 2 students won the first prize, 3 students won thesecond prize and two students won the third prize at the district level.

Three representative teams obtained thefirst, second, and third prizes respectively in Robo Cup Junior of Guangdong area.

The girl’s soccer team won the first andsecond prizes at the municipal and district levelfor many times. They won the championship in the campus soccer competition inTianhe district in November, 2014 and won the eighth prize for the samecompetition in May, 2015.

The boy’s basketball team also won thefirst and second prizes for many times.

2 students placed 3rd for tennis in Guangzhou, and 4 studentsplaced 1st, 2 placed 2nd , 3 placed 3rd in Tianhe district.

19 students won the first prize, 100 students won the second and 26 students won the third prize inthe martial arts competition.

During the Tianhe track meet, 8 studentswon the championship, 5students took 2^nd place, 4 students took 3^rdplace, and many other students won awards.

In the National Drawing and CalligraphyCompetition for primary and secondary students, 5 students won the first prize,7 students won the second prize and 10 students won the third prize.

Yang Yingjie won a silver medal in theNational Youth Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition in 2014.

In 2015, the Aerobics Team ofPrimary department won the 2^nd prize of cheerleading action secondsets of primary school group A in Guangdongprovince Aerobics Championship and took the 3^rd place of actionprovisions of primary school group D in the National Cheerleading League.

In the Chinese proficiency contest, 6students got the first prize, 13 students got the second prize and 11 studentsgot the third prize.

In the Hua Luogeng Golden Cup-a mathematicstournament, 2 students won the first  prize,8 students won the second prize and 21 students won the third prize.

More than 70 students were admitted toGuangzhou Olympic School, and 4 students were accepted by Guangdong OlympicSchool.

In the Guangzhou Primary Students EnglishProficiency Competition, 10 students won the first prize, 10 students won thesecond prize and 21 students won the third prize.

In the provincial and national Englishcontests, 10 students won the first prize, 27   studentswon the 32 students won the third prize.

In the Tianhe Starry Wisdom Cup –acomprehensive ability competition for sixth grade students held in 2013, 1student got the second prize, 6 students got the third prize. The award rate ofparticipating students is 87.5% which is far more than 60%, the average awardrate of Tianhe district.

In short, the Huamei Primary School is a place of real discovery andexploration. It is also a place where success for one is viewed as success for all.
