Distance Learning In the Kindergarten
Shared :

Author: Tyler Alexander Gale

As April comes to aclose, the kindergarten international team took time to reflect on the last fewmonths of online teaching. We face different challenges as we do not holdonline classes for such young learners. We are working on ways to communicateand engage our knowledgeable students through various methods.  With amazing support and communication fromour Chinese co-workers, we have produced some excellent educational content forour students. With the help of staff and parents we have witnessed someexcellent results in terms of student participation.

I had the privilegeto hold an online training workshop to discuss the successes our teachers havehad, and also the areas to be improved upon. I was very impressed with thelevel of participation and the quality of ideas shared during our recent onlinetraining. We have many different ways of engaging our students. This was themain topic of our meeting. Our teachers shared creative ways to engage ourstudents. A few examples of our ideas were to use video editors to make our contentmore vibrant. The quality of the videos our teachers have produced has beenexcellent. We are all learning and sharing ideas of how to use this editingsoftware to it’s full potential. Our stronger tech savvy teachers have takenthe lead and have been of great support to teachers such as myself, whostruggle. We also discussed the content of the material we are sending to ourstudents. We went over what worked and what we needed to change in order for usto have stronger online content. Another idea that was brought up was to engagethe students in group chats with simple daily English questions. Teachers willask a question in the group chat and our students will reply back with a voicemessage or video message. It is fun to see all of our little risk takers answerour questions.

As you can see, wehave been very busy in the kindergarten working collaboratively to make sure weare doing the best for our students each and every day. I am very proud of our international and Chinese teachers, we form a strong team andour dedicated to keep working hard in this period of distance learning.
