Field Trip to Salisbury on July 24th
Shared :

It is Sunday today. Weather is nice. When we gather at South Front, I find that our students are full of energy and I can tell that they are happy and excited from their smiling faces. Yes, we are going to take the train to Salisbury today.

I did a lot of research work before the trip.Especially I found that we are going to visit the Stonehenge's city which is an archaic and mysterious place. Firstly, I would like to show my appreciation to Susanne who gave me a lot of help. When we talked about the coming Sunday plan which we supposed to have another adventure to another castle place. We thought it was a little bit pity we could not spent the weekend together. But when she knew that we will have a field trip to Salisbury, she gave some other reference materials, like traveling brochure, traveling books, and study report of Stonehenge to me, and also her traveling experience in Salisbury.I can say that she got a map in her mind. She is always easily to recall the place from her mind and tell me where the city or place is. Since she love straveling and she got itchy feet.

I learnt a lot from Susanne. She has a good use of books, maps and dictionary. And I thought it is really a good way to mark down things and keep the information in mind firmly.

brochures of Salisbury and Stonehenge from 2003 in which Susanne took from the information service center . She was really trying her best to help me know more about Salisbury before I go there.

Since today we need to gather at the Lewis School South Front at 8:30, so we need to get up and leave home early. Susanne got up very early and helped me prepare the breakfast. cereal , milk, tea and fruit salad.

We are waiting at the train station. Look at the old gentlemen and lady, very elegant!

High Street Gate, which was built in themid-13th century and it is the main entrance into the old city. It also marksthe entrance to the cathedral area behind it.

Salisbury Cathedral which is an AnglicanCathedral and is considered one of the best examples of early Englisharchitecture. The cathedral has the tallest church spire in the U.K. It is 123m. It contains the world's oldestworking clock and has the best surviving of the four original copies of theMagna Carta, which was the first set of laws in the world that allowed allfreemen the right to a fair trial.

When I get in, I was amazed by its magnificent design and history. I was totally impressed by its sacred and solemnatmosphere. I have been told that it's really worth to get into the cathedralto see the architecture. It is absolutely right.

After the whole day trip, we headed back to Southampton.

Although we did not have enough time to visit the Stonehenge, the trip to Salisbury was still very worth and great. We saw a different England from this city, and we felt the amazing things here and spent a shinning Sunday together. I love to havefun with you little angels.
